Dishwasher Leaking Onto the Floor
Likely causes
- ✓Worn door gasket no longer sealing
- ✓Too much detergent causing oversudsing
- ✓Cracked or loose spray arm
- ✓Failing water inlet valve
- ✓Loose or cracked drain hose connection
A leak at the front of the door during the wash cycle is most often a worn door gasket — the rubber seal hardens and cracks over time, and it’s a straightforward, inexpensive replacement. Using too much detergent or the wrong type causes oversudsing that pushes water past a perfectly good seal, so we also ask what detergent you’re using before assuming a parts failure.
A leak underneath the unit points elsewhere: a failing water inlet valve that’s letting water through when it shouldn’t, or a loose drain hose connection. We run a full cycle and watch where the water actually appears before recommending a repair, since chasing the wrong leak source wastes both time and money.
