Microwave Turntable Not Spinning

Likely causes

  • Worn or disconnected drive coupler under the tray
  • Turntable motor failed
  • Roller guide or support ring off track or broken
  • Debris jamming the turntable track
  • Tray not seated correctly on the coupler

This is one of the simplest microwave repairs we handle. The turntable connects to the motor through a small plastic drive coupler underneath the tray, and that coupler is designed to wear out before the motor does — it’s an inexpensive part that we can usually replace in minutes.

If the coupler and roller guide both look fine, the turntable motor itself may have failed, which is a slightly bigger repair but still straightforward. We check the simple, cheap parts first since they’re the more common cause by far.

This is one of the issues covered under our Microwave Repair service.
