Gas Burner or Igniter Won't Light

A stovetop burner that clicks but won’t light is most often clogged burner ports — food residue and spills block the small gas ports around the burner cap, and a thorough cleaning solves it more often than people expect. We check for that before assuming a parts failure.

An oven igniter that glows but never gets hot enough to open the gas valve, or one that doesn’t glow at all, is a different repair — igniters are a wear item that weakens gradually rather than failing all at once. We follow proper safety procedures testing the gas valve and spark module, since we’d rather rule out a supply issue than replace an igniter that was never the problem.
