Self-Clean Cycle Not Working or Door Locked

A door that won’t unlock after a self-clean cycle is the most common version of this call, and it’s almost always the door lock motor or solenoid — the component that physically engages the latch — rather than anything wrong with the cleaning cycle itself. We can usually get the door open and diagnose the lock mechanism in the same visit.
If the self-clean cycle won’t start at all, the control board may not be completing its lock-confirmation sequence, or a thermal fuse may have tripped from a previous overheating event. We test the lock switch and control board directly, since a locked oven door with food still needing to be cooked is a priority repair for most households.
