Washer Leaking Water
Likely causes
- ✓Worn door boot seal (front-load washers)
- ✓Loose or cracked water inlet hose

- ✓Overfilled with detergent, causing suds to push past seals
- ✓Cracked tub or worn tub bearing seal
Where the water shows up tells us most of what we need to know. A leak around the door on a front-load machine almost always points to a worn or torn door boot seal — a visible, inexpensive fix. Water pooling at the front or back of the machine more often traces back to a loose supply hose connection or a failing tub-to-pump hose.
A steady drip that shows up regardless of the cycle, rather than just during fill or drain, usually means a tub seal or bearing issue, which is a bigger repair. We inspect the machine while running a cycle to catch the leak in the act rather than guessing from a dry machine.
