SY EF
Evaporator fan fault
What causes it
Dead evaporator fan motor, a blade jammed by frost buildup, or a failed fan-driver circuit on the main board.
What to check before calling
- ✓Open the freezer and listen for the evaporator fan — if the fridge is silent inside, the fan has likely stopped.
- ✓If frost buildup is visible around the back panel, a 24-hour manual defrost can sometimes clear it; if the code returns, the fan motor needs replacing.
What happens when you call us
If those checks don't clear the SY EF code, it's usually a sign of a failed part rather than something to keep resetting. A technician runs a full diagnostic on your refrigerator, confirms the cause, and quotes the repair before any work starts. The $89 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair, and parts and labor are covered by our 90-day warranty on parts & labor.
