Er rF
Fridge sensor fault
What causes it
Faulty refrigerator compartment temperature sensor.
What it means in practice
The fresh food compartment's sensor isn't reading correctly, so temperature control may be off. Cooling can be erratic.
What to check before calling
- ✓Check that the fridge vents inside aren't blocked by food or containers.
- ✓Power-cycle the fridge at the outlet for 5 minutes.
- ✓Unplug the refrigerator for a few minutes to reset.
- ✓Check the fridge temperature with a thermometer.
When to call a technician
If Er rF returns, the sensor likely needs replacing.
If those checks don't clear the Er rF code, it's usually a sign of a failed part rather than something to keep resetting. A technician runs a full diagnostic on your refrigerator, confirms the cause, and quotes the repair before any work starts. The $89 service call is waived if you go ahead with the repair, and parts and labor are covered by our 90-day warranty on parts & labor.
Common question
Can Er rF cause food to freeze?
Yes. An incorrect sensor reading can over-cool the fridge side, so watch for ice crystals in produce.
Still showing Er rF?
Same-day diagnosis and repair across Las Vegas, Henderson, and Summerlin. $89 service call, waived with repair.
