What causes it
Faulty temperature sensor.

The dryer's temperature sensor circuit is reading as open, meaning the control isn't getting a signal from it. It's often a failed sensor or a loose wire.
What to check before calling
- ✓Check the lint filter and vent for a clog.
- ✓Power-cycle at the breaker; if it returns, the sensor likely needs replacing.
- ✓Unplug the dryer for a few minutes and check for a loose connector if you're comfortable doing so.

If E1 persists, the thermistor or its wiring needs replacing.
