What causes it
Faulty temperature sensor.
What it means in practice
The dryer's temperature sensor is giving a bad reading, so the control can't regulate the heat safely. It's a small part, but it can stop the dryer from working properly.
What to check before calling
- ✓Power-cycle the dryer at the breaker.
- ✓This is a sensor fault — if it returns, it needs a technician to test/replace the thermistor.
- ✓Unplug the dryer for a few minutes and try again.
- ✓Clean the lint filter and the vent in case airflow is affecting the reading.
When to call a technician
If tE returns, the thermistor or its wiring probably needs replacing.
