What causes it
Sensor bar needs cleaning, or a sensor circuit fault.
What it means in practice
The dryer's moisture sensor isn't working as expected, so it can't tell when clothes are dry. Residue on the sensor bars is the usual cause and is easy to clean.
What to check before calling
- ✓Wipe down the metal moisture sensor bars inside the drum with a damp cloth — residue buildup is the most common cause.
- ✓Run an empty cycle to see if it clears.
- ✓Wipe the metal sensor bars inside the drum with a cloth and a little rubbing alcohol.
- ✓Use dryer sheets sparingly, since their residue builds up on the bars.
When to call a technician
If cleaning doesn't help, a sensor circuit fault may need repair.
