What causes it
Drain hose height/routing issue, or a stuck-open water valve.
What it means in practice
The washer detected more water than expected. A drain hose set too low can cause siphoning, and a water valve stuck open can keep filling.
What to check before calling
- ✓Check the drain hose height and routing.
- ✓Clear any visible clog in the drain line.
- ✓Check that the drain hose is routed correctly and sits at the right height in the standpipe.
- ✓Turn the washer off and see whether water keeps entering with the taps open.
When to call a technician
If water keeps filling when the washer is off, the inlet valve is stuck and needs replacing.
