Unbalanced load
What causes it
Load shifted to one side; if it repeats every cycle, often worn suspension springs.
What it means in practice
The washer found the load lopsided and stopped the spin to protect itself from violent shaking. It is most often a one-off caused by a heavy item, but a code on every load can mean worn suspension.
What to check before calling
- ✓Redistribute the load evenly around the drum and restart the cycle.
- ✓Avoid washing a single bulky item (comforter, pillow) alone — add a towel or two to balance it.
- ✓Pause, open the door and spread the laundry evenly, adding a few items if the load is a single bulky one.
- ✓Check that the washer is level and standing firmly on all four feet.
When to call a technician
If UE appears even on small, well-balanced loads, the suspension parts may be worn.
If those checks don't clear the UE / UB code, it's usually a sign of a failed part rather than something to keep resetting. A technician runs a full diagnostic on your washer, confirms the cause, and quotes the repair before any work starts.
