What causes it
Drive motor or motor control board fault, sometimes triggered by an overloaded drum.
What it means in practice
A locked-rotor code means the drive motor couldn't turn the drum when asked. Sometimes it is just an overloaded drum, but it can also point to the motor or its control board.
What to check before calling
- ✓Reduce the load size — an overloaded drum can trigger this.
- ✓Power-cycle the washer at the breaker for 1 minute, then restart.
- ✓Remove some laundry so the drum isn't packed, then try a spin or rinse cycle.
- ✓Unplug the washer for a minute, then plug it back in to reset the control.
When to call a technician
If LE returns on a normal-sized load, the motor or control board needs testing.
