Water supply/fill error
What causes it
Water valve turned off, kinked supply hose, or low household water pressure.
What it means in practice
The washer is telling you it isn't getting enough water, or not getting it fast enough, so it stops the cycle instead of running dry. It is usually a supply problem outside the machine, but a clogged inlet screen or a weak fill valve inside can cause the same code.
What to check before calling
- ✓Make sure both hot and cold water valves behind the machine are fully open.
- ✓Check the fill hoses for kinks, and clean the inlet screens if water pressure is low elsewhere in the house.
- ✓Turn the cold and hot taps on and off to confirm both are fully open and the water comes out strongly.
- ✓Unscrew the fill hoses from the back and rinse the small screens inside the connections, which scale and grit can block.
When to call a technician
If the taps, hoses and screens are all fine and 4E returns, the water inlet valve is the likely culprit.
If those checks don't clear the 4E / 4E1 code, it's usually a sign of a failed part rather than something to keep resetting.
